How we rate software
Every score on this site is computed from published evidence using a fixed, documented weighting. Here is the whole method, including what we do not know and what we will not take money for.
Our commitments
No paid rankings
No vendor can buy a position, a score, a badge, or removal of a negative finding.
Official sources only
Product data comes from the vendor's own website, never from another review site.
Every score is traceable
Expand any pillar to see the individual signals that produced the number.
We say what we don't know
Unmeasurable dimensions are marked and excluded, not silently scored average.
The seven pillars
The overall score out of ten is the weighted mean of the pillars we could actually measure. Weights are tuned for Indian SMB buyers, who in practice care far more about price transparency and reachable support than about badge count.
Usability & Onboarding
20%Screenshots and demo video published officially, whether a free plan lets you self-evaluate, mobile app availability, and usability ratings from verified reviewers.
Pricing & Value for Money
20%Whether pricing is published at all, the entry price against the category median, the presence of a genuine free tier, and how clear the upgrade ladder is. Quote-only pricing costs a product points, because opacity has a real cost to the buyer.
Verified User Reviews
18%Mean rating and recommendation rate from reviews submitted to App Advisor and moderated before publication. Small samples are deliberately pulled toward neutral so five enthusiastic reviews cannot outrank fifty balanced ones.
Support & Reachability
14%Published phone and email support, stated SLAs, live chat, and whether support is genuinely reachable. Weighted heavily because it is what SMB buyers regret most often.
Security & Compliance
12%Certifications published on the vendor's own security page — SOC 2 and ISO 27001 count for materially more than a GDPR mention. We record these claims; we do not audit them.
Documentation & Learning
9%Knowledge base, API reference, structured training material and published FAQs.
Product Momentum
7%Public release notes and how recently the product last shipped. A changelog that stopped two years ago tells you something no marketing page will.
How the advisor ranks products
The software advisor is a deterministic weighted scorer, not a language model. Your answers are scored against seven criteria — must-have features, budget fit, buyer segment, compliance, integrations, quality and industry fit — and the per-criterion breakdown is shown on every result.
Hard requirements are genuinely hard. If you tell us you need GST-compliant invoicing or Indian payroll statutory support, products without evidence of it are ruled out and listed separately with the reason, rather than being quietly ranked lower.
We chose this over a chatbot deliberately: the same answers always produce the same shortlist, every number traces to a specific signal, and nothing can be invented.
How the competitor scan works
The competitor scan reads only publicly published infrastructure metadata: DNS CNAME records on common subdomains, SPF records listing authorised SaaS senders, MX records, the applicant tracking system embedded in a public careers page, and script and cookie signatures on public pages.
We never log in, never bypass access controls, never scan ports and never probe for vulnerabilities. Confidence is weighted by signal strength — a CNAME can only have been created by the domain owner, whereas a marketing widget on a website proves very little — and we show the evidence for every detection so you can judge it yourself.
Pricing information
This page is for information purposes only. Prices, plans and features shown here were read from the vendor's own official website and can change at any time. App Advisor does not sell this software and does not collect any payment for it — the vendor invoices you directly. We only recommend products.
Questions
Can a vendor pay for a better score or a higher ranking?
No. Rankings and scores are not for sale in any form. We earn money from our own services and from vendors who pay for a qualified introduction after a buyer asks us to arrange one — never for placement, and never for a change to a score. If that ever changes, this page changes first.
Where does your product data come from?
Our own crawler reads each vendor's official website and nothing else. We do not copy feature lists, pricing or screenshots from Capterra, G2, GetApp, Software Advice or any other directory. Every extracted fact stores the exact URL it came from, and that link is shown next to it on the product page so you can check us.
Why do some products show a dash instead of a score for a pillar?
Because we could not gather enough public evidence to judge it. A vendor with no reachable security page is not the same thing as a vendor with poor security, so we exclude that pillar from the overall score rather than quietly scoring it low. The dash is us admitting what we do not know.
How often is the data refreshed?
Products are re-crawled on a rolling schedule, and every product page shows when it was last checked. Vendors change pricing without notice, so always confirm the current figure with the vendor before you commit.
Something on a listing is wrong. How do I get it fixed?
Use the 'Report this listing' link at the bottom of any product or company page. We check every report against the vendor's official site and correct the listing where the report is right. Vendors can also use it to claim their listing.
